Managing employee recruitment is one of the toughest problems faced by recruiters, human resource professional and hiring managers. The reason is because when dealing with people and jobs for them there are too many variables involved. First it is important to know exactly what the requirements of the particular job are. This is traditionally in terms of knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the job well. However, it is advisable to take this a step further and really get in details of that is required to perform exceptionally in the job. This is called development of competencies. Another good approach is to focus on what the person would need to do with the required skills i.e. what are the exact deliverables they are expected to achieve withing specific time-frames. That way you can attract, source, select and recruit the best talent and also broaden the options, without the restriction of skills/experience based descriptions.
